Best of the Balms

Of the many beauty products out there, my absolute addiction stems mainly from lip balms. What else is more moisturizing and heavenly to the lips than a lip balm? Now add some tint to that lip balm, and you have the perfect casual lip product. Over the years I've collected quite a few lip balms. This list is a compilation of my favorite lip balms of all time.

HG Lip Balm:
TBS Hemp Lip Conditioner ($8.00)
This is my holy grail lip balm for super chapped dry lips. While it may not feel thick and slippery or heavy, it's definitely moisturizing in the long run. The consistency is very light, slightly waxy like a chapstick, but barely noticeable. I noticed that of all my lip balms, this one helps turn super chapped peeling lips into soft supple kissable lips. It's also great for layering underneath lipstick! It isn't really popular, but I assure you, once you try it, you'll know what I mean.

Best Winter Lip Balm:
Aveeno Lip Balm ($4.00-$6.00)
This one is great for winter months when you need a thick, emollient lip balm with effects right away. The formula is just that - very thick and emollient, almost oily. It leaves your lips with a slightly glossy finish. The reason this isn't exactly HG material, however, is that my lips become addicted to this. For example, one the lip balm has faded, my lips crave it all over again.

Prettiest Lip Balm:
Perfumeria Gal Collection Lip Balm ($6.50)
Then there are your other lip balms that you have, well, just because it looks and smells pretty. I give you Perfumeria's Gal Collection Lip Balm. It has the consistency of vaseline with a very sheer tint. Think of C.O. Bigelow's lip balm consistency. The reason I love this so much is because I'm honestly in love with the nouveau art design and the slightly floral scent. This ones more of something I like to keep in my collection.

Best Tinted Lip Balm:
Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm ($7.00)
For the most moisturizing tinted lip balm, I give that prize to Burt's Bees. The texture and formula of this one isn't the same as other tinted lip balms/butters. This one has an almost oily texture that sinks into your lips. Very moisturizing and soft with a pleasant scent. I heard this lip balm was a dupe for Korres Lip Butter. I wouldn't know however because I've never tried them yet.

Best Drugstore Lip Balm:
Eos Lip Balm ($3.00)
Next to TBS, this would come in as a close second for HG lip balm. It's got a smooth, slightly waxy formula. This is great for layering underneath lipstick. It also has a subtle fruity almost floral scent. I don't carry this one around as much as I used to because I've opted for smaller, more travel friendly products. But this one will always remain a summer staple.

Best High End Lip Balm:
Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment ($22.50)
At a whopping $22, I don't believe I've spent this much on lip balm. I've usually received this lip balm in other makeup packages or birthday gifts. But this one is seriously like a dream. Lip color with lip quenching moisture? You bet! It leaves my lips super soft with a beautiful rose tint. Definitely one of my favorites.

What are you favorite lip balms?
Do you use any of the ones listed above?
If so, how do you like them?

  2. Thanks Angela! Oh that's okay. I know everyone has their own preferences. Back in the day, burts bees- the original pomegranate- was one of my favorites.

  3. Lip balms are my most used makeup! I agree with your list. Except I don't really like the EOS lipbalms. I think regular burt's bees lipbalms are the best!

  10. Lip balms usually apply clear unless they're tinted. If you want something that doesn't show up at all, not even gloss - The Body Shop's hemp lip balm is awesome. :)

  17. There was this Nivea Lip Balm I was soo in love with and then I lost it and they stopped making it. I believe it's the Cherry one but I had it in pomegranite or something of a darker color. It was really lovely. Yeah Nivea makes some great drug store lip balms. I haven't tried their new ones in a pot though.
