Several years back, my friends and I were going to the beach and one of them asked me if I had any truly waterproof eyeliners. I pulled this one out and let her use it to the beach. It was a fun time and towards the end of the night, she was surprised it was still on her. To this day, if I ever need any waterproof eyeliner, I stick to this one.
According to Tarte's Website:
A creamy Amazonian clay infused eyeliner that goes on smooth and allows you to create a thin line or thick cat eye in an instant then dries down to budge-proof smudge-proof perfection. A FREE double-ended liner brush is included for precise application.
Packaging:
The eyeliner is housed in a tiny sturdy clear plastic/glass looking jar. I've never had a problem with it coming loose or breaking off. I actually really enjoy the packaging.
Consistency:
The eyeliner is a soft, semi-claylike type of consistency. A little bit goes a very long way. It's very soft in the beginning but once it dries on your eyes, it won't come off until you rub with makeup remover. Over time however, I've noticed that the consistency of the eyeliner becomes harder and more crumby. It pretty much needs to be replaced at least every three months.
Application:
If you've never used an eyeliner brush to line your eyes, this one might be a little bit trickier to use. I personally do not use the brushes that come with the eyeliner. I've tried using the brushes that the eyeliner comes with, but it just feels strange to me. I find that I have the best precision from using a small angled brow brush. Ecotools makes a great one, plus the skinnier the tip, the better.
Longevity:
The winning factor about this is the longevity. This has stayed tried and true through running, swimming and, okay I'll admit, even tears at some point. I don't really understand how, but it's pretty good at that.
Problems: Very hard to remove!
While the this is a tough eyeliner, it does have its downfalls. I've used this for quite several months before finally considering that this isn't really the best eyeliner for me to use everyday. The reason is that it is just so damn hard to take out. The constantly harsh rubbing of my eyes every night just to remove it just didn't seem like it was worth the longevity. The final thing that made me stop using this was that I had to replace my Ecotools brush every month because the eyeliner would dry into a rocky crumby mess into it. Plus every time I cleaned it, it just seemed to deteriorate more and more. So I ended up replacing it every month.
Pricing and Availability:
This can be found at your local Sephora or Ulta or online at Sephora, Ulta, or Tarte's websites for $24.00. It's easily available and well stocked. For the price point and effectiveness, I wouldn't really use this eyeliner regularly. I'd only get this around summertime to beat the water and heat.
Overall: This is a great buy if you're looking for a truly waterproof eyeliner! I've used this many times in beaches and pools. And each time, it's stayed. So if you've still go plans to hit the beaches or waterparks before this summer ends, this eyeliner is a great choice. Just make sure you're not using it everyday.
