Choice's Genmaicha Tea

There's something to be said when you're reviewing a tea you've already finished. Seriously. I couldn't even save one tea bag to show you guys. Just kidding. I snapped one shot before drinking it. I probably finished this so fast because it's such a staple tea. Something you could drink and crave almost every morning. The caffeine content is just perfect too if you're an avid tea drinker like I am. If you're new to tea, and would like to venture out to other teas, I'd say Genmaicha is a safe bet. Just don't over brew! To see how I rated Choice's Genmaicha, just click on the read more tab.

According to Choice's Website:

Satisfy your senses with this gratifying cup that pays homage to one of Japan's ancient agricultural traditions. Genmaicha pairs spring-harvested green tea with toasted brown rice for a cup that's fresh and delicately balanced. It's a simple, healthy pleasure sure to clear the mind and nourish the soul.

Taste: 5/5
Genmaicha is one of those teas you can drink morning after morning without getting tired of it. It's made of toasted brown rice and green tea leaves. The brown rice gives it a very baked toasted taste. The best way I could describe it is if you've got a whiff of fried white rice and it's got that slightly burnt rice scent. Imagine that scent toned down a bit, add some green tea, and you've got this tea.

Pricing and Availability: 4/5
Available at your local organic grocery store or Whole Foods. Sometimes Trader Joes. Also available online here. I took off a point because it isn't really easily available where I live. The price varies from $5.00 - $6.00.

Overall: 4.5/5
Overall this is a great tea if you're looking to venture outside your regular green or black tea. Genmaicha is usually a safe bet that you may like. And with Choice's affordable price, it makes it easy to try Genmaicha.

Have you ever tried Choice's Genmaicha, or any Genmaicha?

  3. Well I don't care for herbal tea...I actually have to force myself to drink it when I am sick lol I love creamy milky teas like chi tea though. I have a friend who loves tea, she is obsessed so I am always on the lookout for good teas for her.

  5. You're welcome! Also, you should try it. If you're curious, try tasting a cup over a tea cafe. That was one of the first times I tried this tea.

  6. Chai Tea is awesome when made right! Especially at this time of the year. I think that's one of the teas I can never seem to properly make. Especially since it requires some frothy milk. Or so it seems. And aww, you shouldn't have to force yourself to drink tea when you're sick. Try adding some honey and lemon when you're sick. It not only tastes good, but it's good for you while you're sick.

  8. Sounds like a lovely tea! I'm not an avid tea drinker, but when I do drink tea, I drink loose leaf. I still have a lot left, but maybe I'll look into this once I've finished them all. =)
