100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Lip Butters

... So one day I was browsing the makeup aisle, once again, and I couldn't help but pick this up. I have a real addiction to trying out lip balms and this one was no different. I especially love tinted lip balms. There's just something so alluring and promising about them that I just have to try it. In this article, I'm reviewing 100% Pure's Fruit Pigmented Lip Butter.  I was drawn to it's title "Fruit Pigmented" and thought, surely this has to be a marketing ploy. But then I sifted through the ingredients list and found that there were no artificial colors in this lip balm. And for that, I really just had to try it.

From the Website:
100% Natural, 100% Vegan, Gluten free
With an ultra-moisturizing base of organic avocado and shea and cocoa butters, these lip butters leave lips nourished, silky soft, and delightfully infused with natural fruit and berry pigments. They also infuse skin with healthy antioxidants and vitamins.

100% Natural Ingredients: Butters of Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) and Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil, Extracts (Pigments) of Vaccinium Macrocarpon Fruit (Cranberry), Fragaria Vesca Fruit (Strawberry), Solanum Lycopersicum Fruit/Leaf/Stem (Tomato), Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Prunus Cerasus (Cherry) Prunus Domestica Fruit (Plum) and Prunus Persica Fruit (Peach), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Essential Oil
Formula:
While I do think that it's great that companies are using real fruit as coloring, I think they missed out on the key point of a lip balm/butter: It's supposed to be moisturizing. The butter has a waxy feel to it. Because of it's hard, waxy consistency, it's actually pretty difficult to apply a generous amount. When applied, it feels slightly tingly and smells of peppermint. After a couple minutes, I actually felt my lips were dryer than before I had tried them.

Pigmentation:
I have to stay that for a lip butter, I had expected a much sheerer pigmentation. However, it comes out like a stain. The color is a very pretty rose color that gives my lips that "I-just-ate-a-popsicle" look. (You know what I mean.)

Overall: 2/5 Stars

While the pigmentation is very pretty, I don't think I'd pick this up again simply because of it's lacking in the moisturizing field. If you're looking for a moisturizing tinted balm, I'd say look elsewhere.
