Bobbi Brown Calypso Creamy Matte Lipstick Review & Swatch + LOTN

Recently, Bobbi Brown introduced these creamy matte lipsticks. I've finally been able to snag one and it's been quite a journey with this lipstick. At first, I thought it was too bold for my simple every day / night looks. I've never really worn quite a bright fuchsia pink before. So this one was my way of kicking the door of my comfort zone and trying something new. I have to say, I'm quite pleased.

Color: (5/5)
According Bobbi's website, Calypso is described as a pink coral. I'd say it's a fuchsia with bits of coral and pink on me. The color is a vibrant and fades evenly through wear. Although the swatch in the picture appears more shiny, it really dries into a matte texture. (I also believe it's some trick with the flash/lighting.) But otherwise, it dries into a matte finish.

Formula: (4.5/5)
This was the deciding factor of whether I was going to keep or return the product. I have to say that it's quite moisturizing the first three hours - especially if you pack a lot on. (It is worth noting that I always put lip balm underneath my lipstick for extra moisture.) After the third hour however, it dries up into crumby bits. Reapplication is a little bit tricky with this one. I have to fully remove the lipstick, heavily apply lip balm, and then reapply.

Wear Time: (4/5)
The wear time is quite long. I've had this on for about three hours before they needed reapplying. It can probably last longer if your lips aren't quite as dry as mine. After eating and drinking, it fades into a nice tint.

Availability: (5/5)
Easily available where ever Bobbi Brown counters are sold. (Sephora, some Macy's, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Barney'sBobbi Brown's website.)

Pricing: $24
At $24, it falls somewhere on the more affordable range of high end lipsticks. Not bad for a good quality lipstick.

Overall:
This one's a keeper. Though it won't be word everyday, I like having a nice bright matte lip color that I know I can wear. The deciding factor for lipsticks is usually color and formula - both of which passed for me. Overall, this one's a keeper.
