NOTD: Sinful Colors in Island Coral

I'm not sure why, but I've been pretty obsessed with looking for the perfect coral lately. It's been an adventure looking for the perfect color and formula. I finally found the color, but it's going to cost $29 from Nars. I mean, I'm looking but I'm also looking on a budget. So I've finally decided on this lovely color, Island Coral from Sinful Colors. It's my first time trying anything from this brand, so it was quite risky. Here's my review.

Image from Sephora.com

Formula: The formula was thick and did take several attempts to get it right. (It got really thick really quickly.) It isn't watery at all, but the thickness makes adding the top layers much more difficult.

Application and Drying Time: Application wasn't that easy. I decided several times that things needed to be redone. And when they were, they took pretty much forever to dry, even with the drying drops I had recently purchased from Sally Hansen. I do think it had to do with the thickness of the polish. I do wish the formula was thinner so it'd be easier to apply. With a lot of patience and careful application however, you can get beautiful opaque color with this one.

Wear Time: I've had this on for about three days now and so far, there's only minimal chipping. Not bad actually.

Color: I'm really pleased with the color. It's the perfect creamy pastel coral color that I've been searching for.

Pricing and Availability: I got mine for $1.99 USD at Bed Bath & Beyond. It's also available at drug stores and sometimes seen on sale for $1.00 USD.

Overall: This one's kind of like a bittersweet moment for me. I've finally found the color I've been searching for without breaking the budget. However, the formula is just too hard to apply. I don't think I've hard such a hard time applying nail polish to get salon results. I may or may not reuse this.

Bonus! Sally Hansen Sugar Coat!

  7. Lol aww. xD Well if you're ever in need of a specific color, they're good at that department. But if you have no patience (like me) for hard application, they yeah, stay away.

  16. Sinful Colors is one of my favorite brands, especially for the price. However, I have noticed that my Sinful polishes do dry up after some time. Perhaps you got an old bottle.

  17. I agree about the application, I bought 10 of these nail polishes only to discover how difficult they can be!

  19. Great post! sorry to hear you had such a hard time with this color! I got a white one from this line and also a pink one. The white is nice and opaque but the pink is sort of jellylike. I only recently realized that nailpolishes come in different formulas like lipsticks do, cream matte sparkly jelly and then the crackle stuff. Check out my blog for my recent nail of the day! www.booksmartbeauty07.blogspot.com THanks!

  20. Whoa! A white opaque one! Now that's pretty hard to find! I've always noticed how white ones are so sheer. And yeah I'll definitely take a look at your blog! Thanks for letting me know their formula isn't all the same! :D
