Tom Ford Lipstick in Indian Rose Review and Swatches

Tom Ford Lipsticks have been very highly reviewed around the blogosphere. This month, I've finally got my hands on one of them through one of my really good friends, BluChiffon. I'm so excited to be trying this lipstick because I've always wanted to get my hands on one. Anyway, here's the review.

According to Bergdorf Goodman's site:
To Tom Ford, there is no more dramatic accessory than a perfect lip. It is the focus of the face and it has the power to define a woman's whole look. Each Lip Color is Tom Ford's modern ideal of an essential makeup shade. Rare and exotic ingredients including soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and chamomilla flower oil create an ultra-creamy texture with an incredibly smooth application. Specially treated color pigments are blended to deliver pure color with just the right balance of luminosity.

Packaging: (5.5)

Close friends know that I am, indeed, a packaging snob. It's sad, but true. If I don't feel happy holding it, it won't stay with me for long. Tom Ford's packaging is so simplistic, it's edgy and elegant at the same time. The black with the gold trim is definitely

Color: (5/5)

Upon initial inspection of the tube, it appears to be a soft rosey color. When swatched, Indian Rose is a lovely cool toned muted mauve rose color. Very wearable and is a MLBB shade on my dark lips. The color goes very well with my skin. I'd imagine however, it'd be too light for darker skinned people. It's fully opaque and buildable in color.

Formula: (5/5)
The formula is very interesting. For it's opacity, it's surprisingly very featherweight. It almost feels like you just have lip balm on. Honestly, it is a dream to have this on. Super moisturizing and very comfortable. It's also got that classic lipstick scent found in most lipsticks. I'm not really a fan of the classic lipstick scent, but it does go away very quickly.

Longevity: (5/5)
To be honest, I really wasn't expecting this to stay as long as it did. You know the usual trade off for moisture is usually longevity. You either get one of the two, never usually both. With this one, I was able to get around 5 hours of wear before deciding to fully remove it and reapply. The color was still on, but my lips felt dry and needed another application of lip balm. (I have really dry lips.) If it wasn't for the dryness, this could probably stay on much longer. When eating, it fades evenly without feathering or running around your lips.

Pricing and Availability: (4/5)
For $48.00, I usually would not spend that much on a lipstick, but after feeling what it's like, I can now understand why it's all hyped up and costs so much. Honestly, you even forget that it costs that much because it's damn luxurious. While this lipstick has been highly reviewed, it isn't really available in local areas around me. It is however, available in larger department stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth, etc. I checked on Tom Ford's website, and I don't believe you can buy it straight from them (which I do find quite strange.) I took a point off because it isn't readily available around me.

Overall: (4.9/5)
I'm super pleased with this lipstick. I don't think I've ever been so happy with a high end lippie. It's making me want more. -.- Anyway, if you're looking for a really great, moisturizing featherweight formula, with a full opacity, this may be what you're looking for.

  4. Le sigh so beautiful. The colour looks very nice with your skin tone. I've been pining after the pink dusk colour but they are a little too pricey for me at the moment.
